The Marine Corp is having a big one this year...Big 236th! Whoo hoo! Happy Birthday all you Heros.
As we celebrate the 236th birthday of the United States Marine Corps, we also remember all men and women who have chosen to serve our country so we can all be free.
Being the wife to a former Army man, I might get in trouble for celebrating with the Marines... Just kidding! Through my experience with my husband, I have a great respect for the military and their families. My husband was overseas only 1 time for a span of 1 year, and I DO NOT know how families around the world do it on a daily basis. May God Bless them superiorly for their love and commitment to protecting and serving the US military.
In celebration of the big day, I made a birthday card.
I cut the hats as a border in 3" from Doodlecharms. The paper is from a Cricut papers birthday pack. The twine is from Joann's except the buttercream is The Twinery, but I got it from Sweet N Sassy stamps. I love that place. I did some stitching/striping on the numbers with my white gel roll pen.
I thought we might revisit the card I made for the Operation Write Hop blog hop I was in about a month ago. I have mention this blog before. I like to promote it because of the wonderful mission they fill. OWH collects handmade cards from people across the US and mails them to troops overseas. The troops can use these beautiful cards to write back home to family and friends.
Here is my card...
The cuts are from Winter Frolic. You can look at my post from the hop, if you'd like to know more about the details.
I thought I might share some interesting quotes I found by people in regards to the Marines.
Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don't have that problem.
Ronald Reagan, President of the United States; 1985
The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!
Eleanor Roosevelt, First Lady of the United States, 1945

The wonderful love of a beautiful maid,
The love of a staunch true man,
The love of a baby, unafraid,
Have existed since time began.
But the greatest of loves, The quintessence of loves.
even greater than that of a mother,
Is the tender, passionate, infinite love,
of one drunken Marine for another.
